Ranunculus nivalis, commonly known as Snow Buttercup, can be found in mountainous areas. These small flowers have 5 bright yellow petals.

Snow Buttercups can be distinguished from Buttercups (Ranunculus pacificus) by looking at the center of the flower: the latter has a much less prominent center.

These pictures were taken at high altitude, North of the Arctic Circle.
