Chamerion angustifolium, commonly known as Fireweed, are fairly common in Alaska. The flower petals are a shade of pink or linght purple. They are most spectacular when they blossom in large Fireweed fields in August. In Alaska, the sight of Fireweed blossoms is often associated with the "beginning of the end" of the short Summer season.

These pictures were taken in south central Alaska.
